UNLOCK COPPER ORE
Anti-Atlas mining
AOL (AIT OUALLAL COPPER DEPOSIT) is located in Saghro’s Mountain Belt copper known as the Ait Atta region which runs through the south east of Morocco. SMBM has caught the local copper actors’s attention with a new copper discovery at its AOL and Ousdiden projects.
AOL is very accessible. It’s a tow-hour drive from Ouarzazate near the town of solar energy and Hollywood movies. The infrastructure and accessibility are obviously very important for economic potential and future development.
The project
What’s great about the AOL project is its location.
Here in southern east Morocco, you can work year round and in a very established mining area. There are a number of large mines nearby, for example Tiouit Gold mine, Bleida & Bouazzar Managem’s cobalt and copper mines or also Boumaadine the new Aya Gold and silver polymetalic discovery and last but not least the well known Managem’s silver mine, Imiter. So it’s a very established mining area and everything you need for mining project is right at our fingertips which makes our work very cost effective.

Alteration
The types of alteration that we see, the breccia alteration, the silicification, the presence of chalcopyrite, the presence of boronite, these are all indicative features of a strongly mineralized copper.

Sulfides
One of the things we noticed when we were reviewing the AOL project initially was the presence of copper sulfides over many kilometers on surface on the massive quartz vein.

Hydrothermal
when we’re looking at the rock we saw the right types of rocks and the right types of features that indicated we could be sitting on top of a major copper system.
Another notable aspect of the sampling program are areas of minor Au grades. The Au appears to correlate with the high copper grades in some areas

Au-Cu correlation
A Major Discovery
Now on initial review of this project what was really impressive is that we had over two major quartz kilometric veins trenches showing great potential of sulfide mineralization and all of these surface works have copper in them. And when we’re looking at the rock we saw the right types of rocks and the right types of features that indicated we could be sitting on top of a major copper system.
